Sonja Ocampo of Cupcakes by Sonja is giving Manila’s sweet tooth another treat by coming up with a delectable hybrid concoction of her own—the Crupcake.

As its name implies, it’s a cross between a croissant and a cupcake.  Although shaped like a cupcake, this designer creation doesn’t have the density of cake. Instead, it comes with flakey layers of “laminated” brioche dough, which gives it the pull-apart texture of a croissant drenched in buttery goodness, infused with lip-smacking fillings, whether curd, a custard, or a compote.
